Introduction to aromatherapy
Aromatherapy involves the use of essential oils to maintain health and improve well-being. It is a remarkably effective, natural and holistic way of caring for humans and animals alike, which relies on the relationship between the active principles contained in essential oils and the properties deriving therefrom.
Essential oils are 100%-natural substances and they are highly concentrated in active principles. They are obtained by steam distillation of the essence-secreting organs contained in aromatic plants.
Essential oils, quintessences of nature, have countless properties and are for example traditionally renown for their antibacterial, antifungal, antiparasitic, disinfectant and insect-repellent properties. Essential oils are also widely used for their soothing, calming, muscle-relaxing, draining, toning and stimulating properties. Essentials oils also have an effect on the psyche through olfaction.
An essential oil is said to be “chemotyped” when its exact biochemical composition has been determined through scientific analysis. This concept of chemotype (or chemical race) is of paramount importance because it permits not only to determine the active principles contained in an essential oil, and therefore its properties, but also to control its quality (100% natural, 100% pure and 100% integral essential oil).
To achieve the utmost quality and maximum efficiency, our products are made exclusively with chemotyped essential oils.
Are essential oils suited to horses ?
Essential oils are both extremely powerful and subtle substances at the same time. They are particularly well suited to horses due to their great sensitivity and their acute sense of smell. Using essential oils nevertheless requires in-depth knowledge, given their high concentration in active principles.
Our products are formulated specifically for horses by essential oil professionals and enable you to offer the benefits of essential oils to your horse in a safely manner.
You will find below a list of the various essential oils we use in our products, together with their main properties. Please click on the name of each essential oil to read more.
